IFMSA

Dear Students,
IFMSA - the International Federation of Medical Students Association - are looking for a committee of people to help out in the running of the exchange programme taking place this summer in London. IFMSA is a global organisation aiming to give medical students the opportunity to experience medicine, in a vast number of different cities across the world. This year Barts students are prospectively travelling all around the world to countries such as Mexico, Peru, France, Indonesia, Turkey and Sweden!
Are you interested in goin on an exchange in summer 2012?? IFMSA are searching for people who will be able to spare a few days of this summer holiday, from 25th July to 21st August 2011 to:
- organise a social programme for students
- ensure students are well settled in their halls of residence
- help students get where they need to be on the first day of their firms
The benefit of helping with the summer exchange programme is that if you are interested in going on an exchange yourself next year, you will be able to choose which country you can visit - there being 100s of countries to choose from. Please take a look! http://www.ifmsa.net/public/ecscopeselect.php

*********************************************************

TEDDY BEAR HOSPITAL

Hi everyone!
Thank you to EVERYONE who has been a part of Teddy Bear Hospital this
year. Our clinics ran very smoothly and safety day was a great success.
Sadly this year has come to an end which means AGM is coming up and time
to elect a new committee. The AGM will be on the 5th MAY 2011 in the
Garrod building – ROOM and TIME tbc.
We really want to see new faces on the committee, especially from current
1st and 2nd year students so please do think about standing for a position
if you've been to a TBH clinic before and enjoyed it.
If you would like to apply for any of the positions please email the
following by 2nd May to president@teddybear-hospital.co.uk:
All the committee positions are listed below.
NOTE: The president and vice-president positions are only open to people
representatives.
Treasurer (1)
The treasurer is responsible for keeping control of the TBH's accounts and
signing off on all expenditure. They attend student union GCMs on behalf
of the committee and work closely with the other committee members to help
the TBH stay within budget. They are also responsible for ensuring the
valuable funding of our year 2 and 4 MBBS SSMs.
Secretaries (2):
The secretaries are primarily responsible for recruiting Teddy Bear
communication occurs amongst the committee.

Promotions (2):
The two promotions officers are responsible for organising TBH clinics, by
liaising with local schools and teachers to schedule dates. They work
closely with the President and Vice-President to select appropriate
schools, as well as with the secretaries to recruit TBH doctors.

Administrations (2):
The two administration officers are responsible for purchasing and
organising the equipment and supplies used at TBH clinics. They restockour
distribute to the children, and purchase new supplies as required.
Social and Sponsorship Secretary (1)
The social secretary is responsible for organising social events for the
The press officer is responsible for promoting TBH events, ranging from
The dental officer is the voice of the dentists on the committee. The TBH
is actively trying to develop new workshops and events that revolve around
child dental health and hygiene, which relies on dental students and
dental input, the development of which is lead by the dental officer
supported with the dental reps.
Dental Representatives (2):
We have an unspecified number of slots of committee helpers who are
unelected committee members intended to help out the committee when
required. They may be asked to help the administrations officers restock
or help the press officer promote an event, etc. The position is meant for
people who wish to be involved in the TBH without a firm commitment or
people who unfortunately miss out on a committee position but still wish
to be involved.
If you want to know anything more about any position, just email me at
president@teddybear-hospital.co.uk to ask.
