Sabbatical and Trustee Elections

It's election season, get ready for nominations and voting!

It’s that time of year already, when the most important Student Elections take place. Voting will be opening soon to elect your 5 full-time paid Sabbatical officers to run you Students’ Union in 2010-2011. But first we need nominations from those of you who feel up to the job.

Would you like to run the Students Union for a full academic year? Are there things you feel you could improve and change about the student experience? Would you make a good representative for the over 15,000 students at Queen Mary?

We have the following 5 positions available;

President
Vice-President Education, Representation & Welfare
Vice-President Communications
Vice-President Student Activities and
BLSA President.

If you would like to know more about these roles and their responsibilities please visit www.qmsu.org/elections. Alternatively you can email the person currently in the position and find out straight from the horses mouth. Their contact details can be found at www.qmsu.org/studentvoice/sabbaticalofficers

These positions are full time and paid, you will need to take a year out of study or be graduating this academic year. You also need to have been a student for one full academic year.

An additional 5 positions are also available during this election for students to become part time voluntary Student Trustees. They will sit on the QMSU Trustee Board with the 5 Sabbatical Trustees above and 5 External Trustees. The Governance of the Students’ Union has been reviewed in relation to the Charities Act 2006, and as a charity we require 5 Student Trustees that are elected by all students and at least one Trustee must be a member of The Barts and the London.

A complete guide to being a candidate and nomination forms will be available from The Students’ Union Blomeley Centre or downloaded at www.qmsu.org/elections on Wednesday 20th January. They will need to be returned to the Blomeley Centre by 4pm on Tuesday 2nd February.
