Queen Mary students join protest against proposed new junior doctors' and dentist contract changes
Last week, the Student Council voted with an overwhelming majority to support the campaign against the new junior doctor and dentist contract proposals. Queen Mary Students’ Union represents many future junior doctors and dentists, and this will directly affect those students in the future. The Union released a statement of support, which can be read in full here.
On Saturday the 16th October, around 300 students from Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry organised to meet and join in the national protest against these proposed changes. Will Atkins, Vice President Barts and The London (President of Barts and The London Students’ Association) commented:
'The protest went fantastically well, with around 20,000 junior doctors, dentists, students, nurses, allied professionals, and members of the general public all joining us in marching against these unfair and unsafe contracts. It'll now be increasingly hard for Jeremy Hunt to ignore the growing condemnation of his deeply flawed plans for the NHS.'
