What is Provide?
Provide Student Volunteering offers you the opportunity to volunteer with charities and non-profit organisations in Tower Hamlets and across London. Provide gives you a brilliant opportunity to explore what London has to offer, to make a difference and to really get involved in your local area.

How often can I get involved?
You can volunteer on a regular basis in a placement with a local charity or organisation, doing anything from mentoring local school kids, to volunteering in local hospitals, to becoming a helpline volunteer and managing a local sports team.
Or if you don't have the time to volunteer on a regular basis, why not volunteer on our one-off, Community Action Days? These are one-day volunteering events, where you sign up for one event at a time and just turn up and volunteer for the day! These usually take place on the weekends and on Wednesday afternoons. Some of the things we have planned for this year include cooking breakfast for the local homeless, stewarding at the London Marathon 2010, planting trees in the local area and London 2012 themed projects.
Can I set up my own volunteer project?
Yes! An example of a student-led project is the READ Book Project London East. The project falls under the charity READ International, and is supported by Provide volunteering. There are projects in 16 other universities around the country, all aiming to raise £10,000 and collecting as many unused text books and equipment from local secondary schools as they can. These are then boxed and shipped to Tanzania over the summer and eight of the volunteers from the London East team distribute the books in Tanzania in August 2010.
Just get in touch at enquiries@providevolunteering.org and we will help support you to set up your project!
