As SEMS Rep for:

Virtual Academic opportunities:

-As a SEMS student, I have learnt valuable skillsets in attending weekly sessions with Formula Student from Technical skills using SOLIDWORKS to entrepreneurial skills for a business pitch. I want to help SEMS students cease these opportunities and equip them with key skills to help launch them in their career.

-Helping host at least one free virtual taster event with SEMS societies at start of each term such as tuning into a technical session with Formula Student, Creo sessions with EWB or a practical demonstration session with Robotics society.

- Promoting regular technical workshops organised by QM students through social media such as Event Brite which simply involves attending a virtual coding induction session (MATLAB and Simulink). Given the pandemic, more students will opt into these virtual events when they’re readily available from the comfort of their own homes.

Reflecting on your Feedback:

- Collect feedback from meetings with different Course Representatives to reflect student’s interests at heart across SEMS. Any constructive feedback will be directed at Executive Officers and perhaps VP of Science and Engineering.

-In order to ensure better communication among students, especially with absence of campus activities, I will ensure students have a way of professionally interacting with each other as well as with lecturers (i.e., maintaining a SEMS Linkedin page to share any interesting finds).

Support for all students:

-Offer mentoring for new undergraduates to inform them about SEMS, societies and events happening through the year.

-I will constantly keep tabs with the Course Reps and VP to ensure students are feeling well at home such as dedicating a drop-in session to speak to us with regards to anything.
