Hey! I’m George, and I’m a student of Modern Languages and Cultures studying Russian and drama!  

About me:  

George Boulton: A Force for Real Change 

• Passionate about improving your student experience in SLLF 

• I am a Student Course Rep. for Russian; a Buddy Scheme Mentor; and a PASS Student Mentor for the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film, and the School of English and Drama 

Some of my main aims and objectives: 

• Streamline all information so that it is accessible and easy to find 

• Operate a transparent position where I will be available via e-mail, phone (and, hopefully, in person, face-to-face) meetings each week 

• All questions will be answered 

• Ensure that as many opportunities as possible will be available for you to boost your CV, your employability and your professional and personal development 

• Ensure that SLLF is more inclusive, accessible, and supportive for all students 

• A decolonised and varied curriculum that is as inclusive of diversity as possible 

• Tackle racism, discrimination, abuse, and inequalities within SLLF (and the wider university) 

• Promote academic and pastoral services within SLLF and QMUL 

• Promote study skills workshops and services for essays, academic writing and academic skills 

• Ensure that all resources and materials are uploaded to and are available on QMplus 

• All lectures, seminars, and webinars will be recorded where possible 

• Make sure that students have greater access to academic, pastoral, health and well-being support services and resources 

• Promote more school events and social events (and involve a greater number of students in these events) 

• Build a greater sense of community within SLLF 

• More opportunities for undergraduates and postgraduates 

• Improve communication and make communications between you, departments and SLLF staff more consistent 

• Fairer assessments and policies 

• Real answers to your questions 

• Representing your voice and working for the individual 

As a School Representative, I will work hard to ensure that our voices in SLLF are heard, and that every department’s and student’s voice within the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film is heard and not overlooked.  I will act as a voice for SLLF, providing better links between lecturers, other academic and administrative staff, faculty staff, the Students’ Union, and YOU! Tolerance and respect for everyone is my highest priority and will be championed.
