Japan Society Elections 2023

Annual society election to elect the following committee positions 2023-24: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Events Director, Marketing Director, Language Co-ordinator, Careers Co-ordinator. All members who are 22/23 QMUL/BL student and are returning for the 23/24 academic year are able to apply.

The polls have closed.

Japan Society - President

Overseas all operations as the leader of the society, responsible for all actions taken and delegates relevant tasks to comittee memberse and makes final calls for the comittee members and society.

A secondary learship position in the society, taking lead if the president is busy. Working closely with the president to make the best decisions for the society.

Japan Society - Events Director (2 places)

Takes lead in the organisation of internal events, working closely with the treasurer and Vice President. Organise and monitor sign ups and planning transportation. Ideal Candidate: Organised and able to plan ahead of time, setting deadlines for other committee members to follow.

Japan Society - Marketing Director

Management of social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp Group Chat). Creates posts/ illustrations for promoting events etc. Maintain a consistent social media presence posting before, during and after events/ Ideal Candidate: Attention to detail/ experienced and ability to adapt quickly to changes.

Japan Society - Language Coordinator

Management of the Japanese Language Lessons. Planning/ scheduling classes at suitable times. Recruiting and guiding language teachers. Promote and allocate partners for the pen-pal language exchange. Ideal Candidate: foundational fluency in Japanese and or enthusiasm for the language.

Japan Society - Careers Coordinator

Taking lead in managing and promoting career-related opportunities. Representing QMUL/BL and working with other London Uni Career Officers when organising external careers events. Plan events held with Japanese careers support agents. Ideal Candidate: Business level Japanese and ability to translate but not required.
