The taster session for the QMUL Karaoke society with free entry. All the songs you think of, come join us in Blackbox, BLOC, Arts One after the welcome fair. Starts at 7pm and lasts till 10pm. With disco lights and multiple microphones, you can join and duet any song you want or just chill if you want.

🍻 Freshers Opening Night: Historical Pub Crawl 🍻

Join the Labour Society for a fun, social evening exploring the radical history of East London! Starting at The Ground at 6pm, we’ll make our way through historic East End pubs and neighbourhoods, uncovering stories of socialism, trade unionism, workers’ struggles, migration and community organising along the way.

From Clement Attlee and the origins of his socialist politics to the Matchgirls’ Strike and the power of collective action, discover the people and movements that helped shape Labour history — all while meeting fellow students, enjoying a drink and having a great night out.

We’ll kick things off with a short introduction to the Labour Society, what we do and what’s coming up this year, before heading off on our historical crawl.

The Mexican Society has organised this symbolic event to celebrate our beautiful country's Independence Day. Join the fun and don't forget your "sombrero" and a great Mexican moustache!

We’ll kick things off promptly at 6:10 PM with the symbolic "Grito de Independencia", followed by a delicious menu featuring pozole, tasty tostadas, and agua fresca.

We’ll keep the celebration going with a Mexican-themed quiz and plenty of fun activities.

At this event, you'll get hands-on with a curated selection of K-Beauty, Korean skincare products, from established names like Skin 1004, Meditherapy, and Eqqual Berry, to brands not yet widely available in UK retailers, including Benton, PO:DL, Usnear, Ooznary and more.

What you'll learn

The key skincare ingredients of this session are retinol, niacinamide, peptides, and spicules - they are the most talked-about Korean skincare ingredients. You'll understand what they actually do, how they work in a formulation, how to spot it on an ingredients list, and how they can benefit your skin.

What you'll leave with

•⁠ ⁠Hands-on experience in a relaxed environment

•⁠ ⁠A clear understanding of their roles in skincare

•⁠ ⁠Know which products you actually like and why

Your host

Christina holds a degree in Medical Sciences and has spent years exploring Korean skincare, driven by a desire to understand the science behind the products. That curiosity led her to bridge the gap between ingredient science and everyday skincare. These events are her way of sharing that knowledge in a hands-on, pressure-free setting.

Volunteering is a great way to make a difference in your community, develop skills that will look amazing on your CV, and meet lots of new people!

If you'd like to find out more about how you can volunteer with QMSU, drop by our Volunteering Fair! It's a relaxed, free event, where you can visit stalls and find out about the volunteering opportunities that QMSU have on offer.

Whether you are interested in volunteering with one of our student-led Volunteer Groups, or doing some volunteering with the community organisations and charities we're partnered with, you'll be sure to find a great opportunity that suits you!

The QMSU Volunteering team will have a stall at the Fair too, if you had any questions at all or if you'd like to find out more about our "Give Volunteering A Go" programme, for those interested in one-off event day volunteering.
