Introduction to British Sign Language (BSL) is a bi-weekly sign language course taught by qualified Deaf tutors in partnership with Deaf Unity. The course is designed for people who are curious about BSL and want to gain a foundation in this visual and expressive language.
Classes will run online on Zoom every other Monday from 6-8 pm. There will be 10 classes in total, with the initial class commencing on 11 October 2021. No prerequisites are required to join and certificates of completion will be provided!
We are currently offering an early bird discount until 24 September 2021. The prices listed below are for all 10 classes.

Between 24 September to 4 October 2021, the course fees will be:

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The course is modelled on Unit 101 of the Signature Level 1 specifications. By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Recognise and understand simple signs and short phrases in BSL
- Participate in everyday conversation
- Use fingerspelling
For students at Barts, we will be tailoring the course so that you will learn how to sign healthcare and medical-related terms and phrases to improve your ability to communicate with Deaf patients.
