Football (BL Women)

We are a newly established Barts and the London Sports Club, this being our second year as a club! We are excited to present to you a women's sports club which we passionately believe female students at Barts deserve to have.

We are excited to see our club expand and develop, and eager to play and enjoy the sport. We aim to develop a strong team that we can put forward in competitive university leagues and offer training sessions where ladies at Barts can show off their football skills.

We welcome players of all abilities from any year, so join us and be part of our women’s football club at Barts!

In addition to our love of the game, we look forward to creating a community within the club, and as such have an exciting social calendar with a wide range of events!

This is an exciting opportunity to expand sports at Barts and provide ladies at our medical school with more opportunities to play sports.

Taster Session

Bring comfortable clothing to run around in and football boots if you have them.

Training sessions are every Monday from 5-6 pm at Stepney Green Astro (E1 3NG).

Equipment: Football boots, shin pads, and comfortable shorts are required. We will provide balls and other equipment required for training sessions.

Commitment levels required: Enthusiasm and team participation - commit as much as you can, with the possible interest to join the First Team in the LUSL league.


The London Universities Sport Leagues (LUSL) - matches usually take place on a Sunday.

Club Socials

Since we are a relatively new club, we would like to strengthen our social presence both at the Griff Inn and in the university as a whole!

Some of our team socials include Fresher’s curry, tables at the Griff Inn once a fortnight, and team meals such as Christmas dinner and post-match dinners.

We have both drinking and non-drinking events, so everyone is welcome!

How to get involved

1. Join the Facebook group and get in contact with the club committee members.
2. Attend the taster session - this first session is free!
3. Purchase your subs - at the Hub (Mile End), BLSA reception (Whitechapel) or online.
4. Enjoy! Attend the training sessions and take part in matches.

Personal Fitness

QMSU offers a gym on the Mile End campus, Qmotion, as well as a sister-gym in Charterhouse Square, Fitness to Practice, both with competitive student membership rates. This is ideal for students who want to purchase a gym membership - which is separate from a Club Sport subs - to improve and maintain peak physical fitness.

With every gym membership, you get a free 60 minute one-to-one session with trained instructors which includes:

  • A personalised gym programme tailored to your own fitness goals;
  • A full demonstration of exercise and techniques, and guidance on resistance machines;
  • Information and advice on nutrition;
  • A 60 minute review session every 6-8 weeks to re-evaluate and re-customise a new programme to avoid plateaus.
