Young Person & Student Advisory Group

We are looking for inspiring, insightful and passionate young people and students (aged 16 – 25yrs) to join the YGAM Young People and Student Advisory group to ensure their insight is shared both within YGAM and with key stakeholders with whom our charity engages. The aim is to increase input and influence from young people and students into YGAM’s work to inform, educate and safeguard young people from problem gaming and gambling.

The advisory group has been established to offer an exciting opportunity to young people and students to be involved in shaping both YGAM and the wider gambling and gaming sector, leading to better understanding, awareness, and protection. The advisory group is not a ‘sitting around talking’ group; it’s a group of like-minded people meeting up and doing something positive to help share opinions and thoughts from your own experiences. There are no expectations of you when you join the group. You don’t have to talk about anything you don’t want to, and participation is always voluntary; you get what you want from it. The group has six meetings per year and is an opportunity to talk about the key issues in the gambling and gaming sector and share insight. Whether it’s talking about the National Lottery to Fortnite you can help shape the future of gambling and gaming to ensure young people are protected from harm.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

Email: hello@ygam.org with the answers to the following two questions:

1. Describe in no more than 150 words why you would be an exceptional member of the advisory group, and provide examples of the approach you would take gather young people’s view and experiences.
2. Provide an example and the impact of your contribution that has had a social or community benefit, for instance a voluntary role, school life, or society.

You may wish to provide a CV, however this is optional. Do remember to include your contact details and we’ll be in touch.

Closing Date: Wednesday 10th October

Interview dates: Wednesday 17th October (London) and week commencing Monday 22nd October (Leeds)

Provisional Meetings Dates: TBA

Payment Details: An honorarium of £50 per quarter will be paid to each member in the form of a high-street voucher of their choice. All travel and out-of-pocket expenses will also be covered.
