Finance Intern

 

The post provides financial services and support to the Student Union Management, Officers, Commercial Outlets and Clubs & Societies to ensure that all financial transactions are processed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with the Financial Regulations and Procedures of Queen Mary Students Union (QMSU), and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), and the requirements of external statutory bodies including Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

 

The post also requires working in a team, including liaison internally within QMSU and QMUL, and externally with Customers and Suppliers.

 

The main role of the Finance Intern is to ensure effective financial control through accurate and timely financial processing of supplier invoices and ensuring that QMSU personnel understand and comply with financial systems.

 

The successful candidate is required to have a passion and enthusiasm for improving the student experience and have a positive attitude and commitment to working with students and staff.

 

Applicants should have a good understanding of the needs of students, have excellent organisational skills and have the ability to work with a wide range of people.  You will also need to be empathetic to the needs of the students. This role requires basic knowledge of finance and accounting with no prior experience. The role will provide an excellent opportunity to current students or graduates to start their careers in Finance and gain valuable experience. 

 

The post is a student staff contract comprising of a minimum of 15 hours per week. The Salary will be based on hourly basis at £12.83 per hour including holiday pay.

 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
