This exciting role will focus on running and developing the social sport league provisions here at Queen Mary University of London.

QMSU represents and supports over 20,000 students who make up the diverse and vibrant student body at Queen Mary, University of London.  The university joined the prestigious Russell Group in August 2012. 

The Social Sport Development officer will assist in the successful running and effective delivery and development of an all-inclusive, fun and competitive, social sport leagues and programmes offer. This role will work alongside a student workforce of sports ambassadors, liaise with student groups and individuals and will work with university and community partners. Participants will gain a strong sense of community and belonging through an innovative and professionally run, regular programme of sports leagues that operate across the academic year.

 

The successful applicant will oversee the existing QMSU social sport leagues alongside assisting with the planned areas of growth across a number of different sports. The role will also assist in the delivery and development of the QMSU ‘Campus Games’ programme and Alumni engagement, focusing on providing a top quality, highly engaging and all-inclusive sporting experience. A clear focus on the growth of existing participation numbers and increased of engagement from hard to reach groups will be delivered, creating a ‘Sticky Campus’ approach to student life.

 

Applicants should have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work with a wide range of people.  Experience or familiarity of working within a sporting and/or student environment is essential for this role and experience of running sports leagues would be desirable. Candidates must have the ability to work well under pressure, prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines.

The post is a full time permanent post and the starting salary will be in the range £22,212 and £27,034 per annum inclusive of London Allowance, dependent on experience. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan and membership of the Health and Fitness Centre.

 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
