The Ground café at Queen Mary University of London, provides students, staff and members of the public with a range of cold/hot food and drinks, with an emphasis on outstanding customer service and satisfaction, along with continuously looking to improve and expand our offering to our students here at QMUL.
QMSU represents and supports over 25,000 students and around 4,500 staff who make up the diverse and vibrant student body at Queen Mary, University of London. Ground Café is based on our Mile End Campus of the University, which is close to both Mile End and Stepney Green Underground Station.
The Ground Café Manager will oversee the day-to-day operational management of the café outlet, driving sales growth, especially within hospitality, and maximizing customer satisfaction and the customer experience, through the implementation of approved operational plans and by meeting or exceeding the Key Performance Indicators, whilst at all times striving to maintain a culture of excellence in all areas of operation.
You should be a ‘hands on’ approachable leader who is committed to the values of the organisation, being a safe, friendly environment with the student experience at its core, whilst having the ability to manage up to 40 staff.
Applicants should have excellent communication skills and have the ability to work with a wide range of people. Experience or familiarity of working within a hospitality environment would be essential. Candidates must have the ability to work well under pressure, prioritise a varied workload and meet deadlines.
The post is a permanent post with a starting salary within the range £28,208 - £32,087 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefits pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan and membership of the Health and Fitness Centre.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
