We're currently 6 places higher within BUCS (British Universities and College Sport) than last year!
The Union's sports teams are celebrating their success, with 9 teams having secured promotion in BUCS (British Universities and College Sport). We are currently placed 58th in university sport across the UK, 6 places higher than we finished at the end of the 2014/15 season. Our position won’t be finalised until the summer so watch this space!
The following teams have all been promoted within BUCS as they finished top of their league. (In order from highest to lowest):
- QM Men’s Fencing (promoted into Tier 1)
- QM Women’s Football (promoted to Tier 1)
- QM Women’s Volleyball 1st (promoted to Tier 1)
- BL Men’s Hockey 1st (promoted to Tier 2)
- QM Men’s Rugby 2nd (promoted to Tier 2)
- QM Men’s Table Tennis (promoted to Tier 2)
- BL Women’s Tennis 2nd (promoted to Tier 2)
- QM Men’s Rugby 3rd (promoted to Tier 5)
- QM Men’s Football 5th (promoted to Tier 7)
- BL Netball 5th (promoted to Tier 8)
In the BUCS Conference Cup (BUCS’ national competition), our highest performing clubs were:
- QM Men’s Fencing (GOLD)
- QM Women’s Volleyball 1st (SILVER)
- QM Men’s Squash (SILVER)
- QM Women’s Table Tennis (SILVER)
- BL Netball 1st (Semi-Final)
- QM Men’s Volleyball (Semi-Final)
- QM Women’s Badminton (Quarter-Final)
- QM Men’s Rugby 2nd (Quarter-Final)
- QM Women’s Rugby (Quarter-Final)
We also have a couple of teams who have performed brilliantly in their LUSL League. The LUSL League is the London Universities Sports Leagues and is a recreational off-shoot from BUCS for London teams only. Our highest performing LUSL teams are:
- QM Football Women’s (top of the league – will be promoted if they win their remaining fixture)
- BL Netball 4th (2nd in the league)
- BL Men’s Hockey 1st (2nd in the league)
- QM Mixed Badminton (3rd in the league)
- BL Netball 3rd (3rd in the league)
- BL Water Polo Mixed (3rd in the league)
