For most students the transition to university is both exciting and daunting in equal measure. The Union Buddy Scheme was developed to support student’s wellbeing during this time, making sure everyone can have the best possible experience at Queen Mary.
How it works
The Buddy Scheme matches trained Queen Mary students (mentors) with incoming first year students (mentees) in a group. Through our mentor / mentee application forms we are able to pair students based on their preferences to ensure that each student gets the most out of the scheme.
Why you should take part
Queen Mary Students’ Union believes that a sense of community should be at the heart of any university experience and the Buddy Scheme is at the centre of this from the beginning of the student journey. Becoming a peer mentor means you will:
- Gain the satisfaction of supporting new students to feel part of the Queen Mary community
- Boost your employability through improving your key transferable skills such as communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
- Be eligible for the Queen Mary Skills Award
- Help to improve someone else’s time at university in London through your own experiences
