2015 is a great year for QMSU licensed venues as Drapers and The Griff Inn win gold Best Bar None Award!
2015 is a great year for QMSU licensed venues as once again for the second time in a row both Drapers Bar & Kitchen and the Griff Inn Bar & Kitchen received the highest accreditations, achieving the Gold Best Bar None Award last week. Best Bar None is a National Award Scheme supported by the Home Office, aimed at promoting responsible management and operation of alcohol licensed premises.
The purpose of the award scheme is to reduce alcohol related crime and disorder, build positive relationships in licensed trade and to recognise and share good practice with other responsible licenced premises. The scheme is heavily supported by NUS with the majority of Students Unions in the country taking part.
Joe Addai-Poku, Senior Events & Entertainments Manager at the Students’ Union, commented:
“Winning this award is a testament to all members of the QMSU Venues & Events team for all the hard work and due diligence put in to ensure the safe operation of our licensed venues. We as a Student’s Union department will continue to promote responsible drinking within our premises and will be working very closely with our Vice President Welfare to be accredited for the new NUS Alcohol Impact award for 2016.”
Miranda Black, VP-Welfare, commented:
“It is great to see Drapers and the Griff Inn recognised by this national award scheme for their commitment to responsible alcohol management. This ties in with wider themes that we are working towards as a Union surrounding alcohol, such as promoting Dry January, our alcohol free events, and hopefully raising some money for charity Alcohol Concern. We are working towards achieving NUS Alcohol Impact accreditation in 2016.”
