Proposals currently being discussed within government, which include scrapping maintenance grants, could have an increasingly negative impact on Higher Education. The National Campaign Against Fees and Cuts (NCAFC) have called for a march in London to protest against these proposed changes, starting at 1pm on 4 November.
If you would like to take part in the march then come to Library Square on Mile End Campus at 10:30am, where all students will be able to head over together. If you cannot meet there then students will be assembling at 12pm on Malet Street.
The NCAFC are marching because:
“Nobody should be denied an education at any level. This certainly means removing financial barriers but also ensuring that every student receives appropriate support. Education should no longer be a commodity for individual consumption: it should be a social good. It should not be funded by placing an immense debt burden on students. Our goal is education to be funded by taxing the rich, to directly attack inequality that our society’s structure fosters.”
