Muay Thai is really helpful in helping to deal with issues such as stress, lack of confidence, fear of stepping out of your comfort zone and more. This week we are shining the light on QMBL Muay Thai!

Tuesday 3.30-5pm (Mind and Body Studio); Thursday 3.30-5pm (Mind and Body Studio); Friday 4-5pm Get Active (Active Studio); Saturday 8-9.30pm (Sports Hall)
What makes your training sessions enjoyable?
Muay Thai is known as 'the art of eight limbs' utilising kicks, knees, elbows and punches. The art also makes use of the clinch to throw opponents and deliver short punches, elbows and knees. Our sessions start with a warm up. We then use pads or work on our technique, and we close the session with some conditioning and stretching. All our sessions involve games and fun drills that do not even feel like you are working out. Both our coaches are lovely and fun people and usually make people laugh and contribute to the enjoyment of the session. Everyone leaves with a smile on their faces and usually describe Muay Thai training as 'a lot of fun'.
What was your clubs biggest success of the past year?
We have reached the highest membership number to date, the highest amount of socials in the history of our club, and we ordered brand new equipment. We won almost all the fights we took part in and we have secured a partnership with Bloodline gym in order for people who want to train or fight professionally to have an opportunity to do so. We have implemented a progressive training plan that involves two coaches and the committee. We have introduced a Saturday session as to facilitate the participation of Barts students.
Why should students get involved with your club?
Muay Thai is great exercise as you use your whole body combining strength exercises and cardio. It is also really helpful in helping to deal with issues such as stress, lack of confidence, fear of stepping out of your comfort zone and more. Whether you want to get in shape or start fighting, come along! Anyone from complete beginners to more experienced individuals are more than welcome! All you need are standard gym clothes as we train barefoot!
What is a fun fact about your club?
We're probably the cheapest club on campus and we offer professional coaching :)
