About the Campaign

Queen Mary University of London have taken the decision to rebrand Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. This process has involved multiple changes including, most drastically, the changing of our logo to a generic Queen Mary logo with Barts and The London as just a footer, and the removal of ‘School of Medicine and Dentistry’.

The student voice is an essential and powerful thing and one that should be present and empowered in a world-leading University. This logo was designed by QMUL without student consultation. However, more worryingly, when students and staff subsequently raised extensive concerns about this logo and the rebrand generally, they were effectively ignored.

We have made every effort to raise our concerns and work with the university to reach a solution. Despite these efforts, the University has decided that this rebranding is the new direction for Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry going forward, and will not listen to further concerns. It is apparent that they do not appreciate our unique identity and want to actively reduce the diversity that this adds to Queen Mary University of London.

We have therefore taken the decision to lobby the University to work with us to come to a compromise that will suit all parties, a symbol that we can wear with pride as members of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry within Queen Mary University of London.

The Student Voice is integral and should underpin everything we do across this institution. Your voice and support is instrumental in helping us to show the University how important this is, so please #SaveOurBL by signing and sharing the petition on the link below.
