The aim of Zero Tolerance is to educate students and staff about a range of forms of violence and harassment, signpost to support, and to encourage everyone to reflect on their own behaviours and speak up when they see something happening. We can't do this without your help!

Even if you’ve never experienced bullying, harassment, discrimination, sexual assault or a hate crime, you can still get involved with the Zero Tolerance campaign.

We want as many students and staff members as possible to get involved and to show their support, whether this is through taking part in a photo shoot, a video or even a blog post on our website. If you just want to show your support for the campaign, we have a number of resources for you to access that can be used online, in social media or around the University. Check out the links below for more information.

Consent and Active Bystander training

We deliver a range of consent and active bystander training sessions throughout the year open to all students. Find out more here.

Training opportunities

Check our events page here to see upcoming consent and active bystander training sessions.

  • Consent training
Our consent training introduces key elements of consent and how you can apply these, both in your day-to-day life and in your role as a student leader. You will consider how you can contribute to a culture of consent on campus by applying your knowledge to scenarios and learning to distinguish between myths and facts about sexual violence. You will also learn what support is provided by the Students’ Union, QMUL and external services for survivors of sexual violence.
  • Active Bystander training
Our Active Bystander training equips you with the tools to challenge sexual violence, harassment and harmful attitudes wherever you may encounter them. You will gain an understanding of myths and facts around sexual violence as well as how to respond if you receive a disclosure. You will consider what it means to be an active bystander and will get the chance to apply some of your skills to real life scenarios.

Help change the culture

A really important part of the Zero Tolerance campaign is opening up a conversation about the culture both on campus and in the wider community.

You can take part in this by downloading and using the resources we’ve created as part of the campaign. You can also get involved by writing blogs for our website, creating a video for our social media pages and much more! You can do this as an individual, as a friendship group or as part of a club or society.

If you'd like to get involved in any of the activities above, contact us at!
