In 2019 we launched our Young Leaders Academy to develop a workforce of future leaders from local schools and colleges whilst bridging the gap between further and higher and higher education. During the pilot year, we accepted 11 young leaders onto the academy. They were invited onto campus for an induction event and had access to a bespoke rewards package in return for their outreach. Collectively, these young leaders had over 1,421 participant engagements in the local community during their time with the academy.
We have supported members of the first cohort to impact their community, access training, join funded leadership programmes and secure employment within the sport sector.
QMUL students can support the academy as mentors for the young leaders by providing advice on university life and personal goals.
