Queen Mary Badminton Club (QMBC) plays and trains throughout the academic year.
We currently have two Men’s teams, one Women’s team, and one Mixed team competing nationally in BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) and LUSL (London Universities Sport League). Team members train up to twice a week - come and join us if you’re interested!
We also have social badminton sessions allocated each week catered to players who have never picked up a racket before as well as those who play casually and regularly. We provide shuttles and have a few rackets we can lend you, however, it's best to bring your own if you have one as they are always high in demand. Being part of the social team, you’ll be a part of the larger badminton family and will be invited to join all social events throughout the year alongside the team players!

Trials
Format
Men’s and Women’s trials:
Second semester trials will be taking place at Qmotion sports hall, 10:00-11:30, Saturday 27th January.
What do you need to bring?
Racket and sports kit.
Selection process
You will be assessed by our team captains and club President. We will assess your range of skills and team working abilities, not just your ability to win.
What are the next steps if you are selected?
You will be invited to attend our team training sessions, where you will be further assessed by our captains.
What happens if you are not selected?
We have a second round of trials in January. In the meantime, you can join our social squads for extra practice. The team list will change throughout the year as not every team member can attend every match. Commitment is key, so don't give up!
Competitions
Queen Mary Badminton competes in BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) and LUSL (London Universities Sports League).
BUCS League matches are played mostly on Wednesday afternoons, and Mixed (LUSL) League matches are played on the weekend.
Social Badminton
For social members, sessions will be held on Thursdays from 08:00-09:00 & 13:30-14:30 at Qmotion, and we kindly ask that you purchase the correct membership in order to attend. We provide some rackets (please bring your own if you have one) and shuttles for you, so come and get some fun exercise!
