QMUL Golf Team provides the opportunity for students with previous golfing experience to represent the University in matches against other London and South Eastern clubs in the BUCS leagues. The league has a fair mix of golfers with teams fielding players with handicaps varying from single figures into the 20s and 30s, so it is open to everyone who plays the game. The team is also a perfect place to meet new people and to have fun in a relaxed atmosphere with regular days spent at the course. Though we would love everybody to participate with the matches, the team is also there to provide you discounted membership at our home course and allow you to play whenever you want.
Our home course is Wanstead Golf Club which is only a 15 minutes journey away via the Underground. The course is a challenging 18 holes, set in beautiful parkland, bordered by Wanstead Park and the lower reaches of Epping Forest yet only a few miles from Docklands and the City of London. The club is one of the premier courses in Essex, and hosts some of the best golfers in the area; with the scratch team being multiple winners of ‘The Thornton Cup’ (Essex’s Premier Club Competition). Denis Pugh was a one-time Pro at Wanstead, and seasoned professional Simon Khan played his junior golf here - this just demonstrates the high calibre that Wanstead has to offer.
