Volunteering Awards

The Volunteering Awards give you the opportunity to nominate yourself, other volunteers, volunteering groups and community partner organisations for awards to celebrate their achievements and contributions this year.




Group Awards

This section is a list of all the group awards we have available, please read through all of these and decide which group you think is most deserving of any of these awards.

Awarded to an outstanding volunteering group who have made a positive contribution in the local community and who have provided high-quality volunteering opportunities to students in the academic year 2023-24.

  • Winner: Teddy Bear Hospital
  • Highly Commended: Project Play

 

This will be awarded to a student group who has made a positive impact on the world around them through activities seeking to address global challenges such as environmental sustainability or climate change.

  • Winner: Project Play
  • Highly Commended: SAMDA

 




Individual Committee Member Awards

We also know that behind each student group, is a number of a committee members working hard to deliver their group alongside their studies and personal lives. To recognise this, we also have individual awards available:

This will be awarded to a committee member who has used critical and creative thinking to address challenges that their student group has faced this academic year.

  • Winner: Eileen Lee Jia Huey

 

Awarded to an outstanding volunteering group who have made a positive contribution in the local community and who have provided high-quality volunteering opportunities to students in the academic year 2023-24.

  • Winner: Ivy Lee Jia Huey
  • Highly Commended: Eileen Lee Jia Huey

 

Awarded to a student who has shown dedication to sustainability through their volunteering efforts in the academic year 2023-24

  • Winner: Miracle Oluchi Ogba
  • Highly Commended: Lily Throssell

 

Awarded to a student who has shown dedication and enthusiasm to the local community through volunteering, and has gone above and beyond to make a sustained impact, in the academic year 2023-24.

  • Winner: Chelsea Jaylene Ali
  • Highly Commended: Shruti Patel and Manisa Regami

 

Students are nominated for this award by our partner community organisations.

  • Winner: Charlotte Ewen

 

Awarded to a student who has started volunteering this academic year and who has shown dedication to volunteering and making an impact in the local community in the academic year 2023-24

  • Winners: Amy-Rose Hellier and Hoi Yan Leung (Rachel)
  • Highly Commended: Mehreen Khan and Adam Khan

 

Awarded to a final year student volunteer who has made a sustained impact in the local community through their volunteering throughout their time at Queen Mary.

  • Winners: Giulia Pintaritsch and Sonia Uthirapathy

 

The winner of this Award is decided by the QMSU Volunteering Team.

  • Winner: Manisa Regami

 




Organisation Awards

Community Organisation of the Year

The QMSU Volunteering Team will decide the winner of this Award on the basis of the community partner’s engagement with our Service and the popularity of their opportunities with our students.

  • Winner: Haven House Children's Hospice

 


Give Volunteering A Go Organisation of the Year

Awarded by the QMSU Volunteering Team to a community partner that has offered one-off volunteering opportunities for students that are engaging, impactful, and have allowed them to develop their skills and enthusiasm for volunteering further.

  • Winner: Great Ormond Street Hospital

 



Trophy Awards

The Trophy Awards are our end-of-year award scheme for Queen Mary Students’ Union's affiliated societies, student media outlets and volunteering groups. To recognise your hard work, groups could be rewarded with a Bronze, Silver or Gold Trophy, depending on how much of our criteria you meet.

  • Gold Trophy Award: Project Play
  • Silver Trophy Award: Teddy Bear Hospital
