Hear from our Volunteer Champions

Our Volunteer Champions lead all of our Give Volunteering a Go opportunities. Afterwards, they write about their experiences. Why not read the reports and find out which opportunities you would like to try?

Clothing Challenge 5th December

On the 5th December we held our Give Volunteering a Go Clothing Challenge event at Whitechapel Mission. Although there was only three of us it didn’t stop our wonderful volunteers, who had travelled from far across London to give a helping hand at 8:15am, they worked extremely hard by sorting through countless boxes of donations that the Mission had received. Obviously, at Christmas time there is an exceptional amount of donations from the general public for the homeless, our volunteers divided all the donations and garments into sizes, gender and type. As always, the cheerful staff treated us wonderfully, giving us coffee and biscuits to keep us going throughout the morning. It was also great to see so many donations of useful, warm winter clothing, such as large coats, hats, gloves and jumpers which were mostly all in good condition and ready to be worn by those who need them most. Thank you to our volunteers for their great effort!  - Ariane
