Policies needing attention
  1. Most QM postgrad halls are occupied by internationals. Charging £42 per kitchen for cleaning floor is not fair whereas student Union pays £9 pounds per hour for similar work to students.

  2. Cultural societies at queen Mary are not adequately represented and suffered the worst impact from the lack of sponsors as compared to academic leading to lesser events. Thus they need financial support from the SU.

  3. The student Union should promote part time jobs opportunities specific to different communities as internationals find it much more difficult to find jobs in a new country coupled with higher fees.

  4. Finally, most policies being campaigned are undergraduate and local student focussed thus leaving out a large section of QM students.

My objectives
  1. Firstly integrate the postgrad and undergrad communities for mutual benefit from networking.

  2. Encourage societies to have specific postgrad representatives thus involving postgrads into the uni experience.

  3. Promote career opportunities not only within UK but in international countries for students wishing to return home after education.

Why me
  1. Experienced qmul as an international and postgrad student

  2. Interned with the government of India social justice and empowerment department and other departments over 3 years giving me first hand experience of implementing policies.
