Hi, I’m Tala! I’m a second-year law student, and I am currently the Mile End Sustainability Representative and President of the Environmental Society both of which opened my eyes into how one can take action on their passion. I hope to be the voice of change for QM's Sustainability efforts.

Why I'm standing

My current positions have allowed me to work with great leaders that made me believe that change is possible. The climate crisis is the biggest threat we face and, together, we need to ensure the QM community plays an active role in tackling the issue with a holistic approach and so my primary aim is urge QM to declare a climate emergency. Along with that as a focus, I aim to and will work together with you on:

  • Engaging with internal and external organizations and campaigns to raise awareness of the current climate emergency.

  • Educating students on how they can live more sustainably and supporting them throughout their journey by providing resources and making sure they are heard.

  • Taking on initiatives such as increasing the variety of vegan options available on campus and reducing single-use plastics.

  • Importantly, introducing and implementing processes for addressing the sustainability concerns and ideas brought to the attention of QM's student body.
