Why vote for me?
Working in DentSoc for a year taught me how quickly plans can change, and that to carry out your purpose you need to roll with change and make the best out of everything.
We make up the dental school, so we deserve to have our voices heard and have every opportunity. I will try my best to go above what is expected to make that happen!
A friendly face you can talk to and discuss whatever is on your mind
Manifesto
Academic
Webinars: Lecture series to help provide you with skills during your life after BDS, with focused advice on managing your finances including managing your money as a student, paying off your student loan, and the financial effect of COVID-19 on dental practices.
OSCE Prep videos: Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 we could not process OSCE videos this year. We aim to bring you an updated OSCE prep video series this year when the opportunity arises.
E-resources: Continuing e-resources with more content and updates to reflect changes in our course since the pandemic.
Social
Student Staff Sports Day: Chance to nutmeg your lecturer? Catch up with your peers? This event will help make up for lost face to face time with everyone and a chance to have plenty of fun!
Social Media: Continue our presence on social media platforms to help spread our student and alumni achievements as well as information, opportunities, and support for our current students.
Cultural carnival: Celebrating culture days together through our love of food and collaborate with BLSA cultural societies to help raise money for charities. Unfortunately, due to COVID we were not able to have this, hopefully this year we will.
Charity
Introducing DentSoc Charity Week where everyone can participate by trying out something new from walking to running and tracking their miles to help raise money for our chosen charity!
Welfare: New initiative involving sharing experiences of coping with current mental health challenges. Posts offering advice and evidence supported strategies to help you with whatever you may be facing.
Raising awareness: We have access to staff Mental Health First Aiders, student support and Togetherall (formerly the Big White Wall). Through continuing ‘Wellness Wednesdays’ we can collaborate with these mental health services on social media to raise awareness.
