Hi, I'm Abdul a 2nd year Computer Science Student and I'm running to be one your Student Trustees on your Student Union.

I have had numerous encounters with university positions of authority over the last two years, and I pledge to use this experience to ensure that QMSU remains accountable, efficiently controlled and remains a viable Student Union.

As a Student Trustee, I aim to help ensure that the SU can continue to develop in a transparent and inclusive manner. This will be achieved by voicing the concerns of the Students to creating procedures for change. As a member of the BAME community I ensure that such minority groups are given inclusive opportunities are able to experience the diverse nature of the Students' Union. In being successful in this role I can help maintain the SU's stability and viability and in doing so, help create a better university experience during and after the Covid-19 climate.

With my experience in both Finance and Tech I plan to help devise a sustainable financial plan for the SU to continue to support societies on campus, to ensure that the SU has the correct policies and procedures in place to continue to grow.

Having been on other committees, such as the Blockchain Society, and having held leadership positions in charity projects initiates by Penny Appeal, I do not shy away from responsibility. I recognise the value of clear communication, teamwork and successful relationship building with other members and hope to develop this with QMSU.

I aim to help the board advance the SU both financially and legally and promise to be a strategic and progressive trustee, committed to ensuring the long-term welfare of the Queen Mary Students' Union.
