Improving LGBT+ awareness and education:
I will work with staff to improve teaching about gender and sexuality, including promoting inclusive language in clinical skills.
Increasing accessibility:
I will ensure there is a wide range of LGBT+ events on offer, including for those that don't want to drink alcohol.
LGBT+ History Month & Pride Week:
I will continue and improve our fantastic pride week and LGBT+ history month events, collaborating with the QM rep to ensure events do not clash.
LGBT+ inclusion in other events / themed weeks:
I will engage with the welfare team during SHAG week to run events for LGBT+ students. I will also collaborate with local LGBT+ organisations to provide opportunities for Barts students to get more involved with the local queer community.
COVID:
I will keep in mind that many of this year’s new students may not have been able to attend any in-person events yet, ensuring events are welcoming to all.
Promoting intersectionality:
I will work with BAME, women's, disability and trans reps to develop shared events and ensure that every event is inclusive for all.
Monthly drop-in sessions:
Your voice matters: I will hold monthly drop-in sessions where you can share any issues you have had whilst at university, or just have a chat!
