Kind as a teddy, boss as a bear :)

Hi everyone! I'm Zoya and I'm a second year medical student.

I joined Teddy Bear Hospital at the beginning of the year and I have attended quite a few clinics so I know how they run and what each station involves so I am quite familiar with the clinics, therefore would be confident with leading them. I am very friendly and approachable which I believe is essential for the role so volunteers can always ask me for guidance and advice. I also took part in national safety day this year and had so much fun so would definitely love to be involved in the organisation of the event itself to make it as fun for others as it was for me. Furthermore, I just completed my teddy bear hospital SSC which allowed me to get involved in another part of the society and take part in more clinics. As part of my SSC, one of my favourite parts was when I shadowed a play specialist and saw a child who was very anxious about an injection but after she had it, I got the opportunity to make burgers and waffles out of playdough with her which cheered her up a lot. This is just one of many examples which shows that I enjoy working with children and I am very good at interacting with them in various settings - hospitals, schools, education centres and having two young siblings myself, I believe I have a lot of experience in working with children of various ages.

I am a very organised person who has excellent communication skills and is passionate about working with kids and making teddy bear hospital clinics a very enjoyable and educational experience for them and this role will allow me to do this. Overall, I have shown a lot of dedication to this society in different ways and I aim to continue to do this by expanding my role from volunteer to team leader to help form the society for next year.

Vote for Zoya!
