Hi, my name is Sophia Diao and I am a first-year Pharmacology student. I would love to be the treasurer of Teddy Bear Hospital.
First of all, I am very organised and reliable. This will be beneficial for the role of Treasurer because it means I would be able to meet the deadlines set by the Student Union and ensure that grants and expense forms are completed on time and processed efficiently. I will aim to work closely with the other committee members to help TBH stay within their designated budget when purchasing goody bag supplies and reimbursing travel expenses.
Having worked in customer service and retail, I have experience working with the general public and have developed excellent communication skills. This means I can communicate effectively with the committee members and volunteers during our weekly clinics and can help organise our annual safety day.
Additionally, I am friendly and approachable which enables me to become a point of contact for volunteers, especially those attending clinics for the first time, to provide support and answer any questions. I am a quick and keen learner and I am excited to learn more about being a Treasurer.
TBH has grown tremendously in size, with the number of volunteers and exposure increasing each year and likewise, the influence of TBH on children in local schools is inspiring. I would love to be part of this fulfilling society and continue to foster a fun and educative environment for the children in the future.
