Hello! My name is Katie and I’m a first-year medic, I have debated from quite young and love a good well structured argument. Thus far in debate I've really enjoyed learning about medical ethics and think debate is a unique and engaging way to learn about it.
A little more about my experience with debate; I started in primary school so I've been doing this for a long time! I know how to debate parlimentary style and know of more basic formats aswell. Debating in leagues, some of which took place in top law firms and the Houses of Parliment, I know that competition elevates debate entirely and so definitely want to steer the club in this direction.
I want to become BL president because I believe I can grow this club and give it the exposure it deserves! I plan on doing this with more frequent debates, marketing, and leveling up the club by inviting guests and possibly getting some external debaters in. I have plenty of ideas for the club, some of which include harnessing more of the teaching aspect of medical ethics as well as emphasising debate as a fun exchange of ideas.
