Hello members of the Queen Mary Model United Nations society! My name is Chloe Kam, a second year Neuroscience student. I have joined MUN since my second year at university and have been an active member since. I am running for Events Officer because I am deeply committed to making our society better, more inclusive, and above all, more fun!
Over the past year, I have had the privilege of being an active member of our society, participating in weekly sessions, intecollegiate MUN trainings and numerous MUN conferences. My experiences have given me valuable insights into the strengths and areas for improvement within our society, and I am committed to leveraging these insights to enhance the experience for all members.
As Events Officer, my primary goal will be to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment within our society. One of the key ways in which I aim to achieve this is by organising a variety of social events that bring members together in a relaxed and informal setting, outside of our weekly debate sessions. From potluck dinners to outdoor trips, these events will provide opportunities for both new and existing members to socialise and build lasting friendships, which is one of the best things to come out of being in the MUN community! By creating a sense of belonging, I hope to ensure that everyone feels valued, heard and supported.
Furthermore, I am passionate about promoting diversity and representation within our society. I believe that MUN should be accessible to all students, regardless of their background or experience level. As Events Officer, I will work closely with the team to ensure that our events and activities are inclusive and representative of the diverse perspectives within our membership. This include organising themed events that highlight different cultures, regions and global issues.
Finally, I am committed to transparency, accountability and open communication in all aspects of my role. I will regularly seek feedback from members to ensure that our events meet their needs and expectations. I will seek input from members regarding the events they would like to see and integrate their suggestions. Additionally, I pledge to maintain clear and detailed records of event planning to ensure the success of our events.
In conclusion, I am deeply invested in the success and growth of the Queen Mary Model UN Society, and I am confident that my passion, dedication and vision make me well-suited for the role of Events Officer. Please show your support by casting your vote for me, to make unforgettable memories within QMUN!
