Salam alykum.
My goal is simple: to bring the ABSOC brothers closer.
This starts by creating a more interactive environment, I wish to implement an ABSOC whatsapp community with sub groups for each year group in Bart's (e.g. Year1 Dent&Med etc) - with each group maybe 1 or 2 senior brothers to facilitate/act as mentors.
I wish to run more casual social activities for Bart's, for example going out for food, iftar in Ramadan, bowling ...
Implement revision sessions for lower years ...
Al salam alykum.
I'm Mohammed, and i wish to help kindle stronger relationships between ABSOC brethren.
As per my statment this will start with creating a whatsapp community with sub groups for each individual year group, for example all first years in Medicine, Dentistry, or any Bart's associated courses (Neuro Science) will be placed together into a first year group, and so on.
While I acknowledge the existence of a general Barts group chat, it appears that interactions within this group are limited and primarily serve announcement purposes. From my personal experience, I’ve found it challenging to connect with Ahl Al Bayt followers from my cohort. The implementation of these subgroups will simplify the process of getting acquainted with peers in your cohort and provide a platform for interaction. Additionally, one or two committee members will be included in these group chats to facilitate and offer advice when needed.
Following the set up of the whatsapp community, it’s important to facilitate opportunities to building stronger relationships. This can be achieved through casual social events open to all members, such as dining out, having Iftar during Ramadan, or participating in activities like bowling or climbing. I also propose that these events be Barts friendly regarding geographic location, meaning they should be held close to whitechapel.
I believe the above implementations are realistic and achievable. Further more, to build on the mentorship scheme it may be beneficial to have senior members share their wisdom and resources, and potentially conduct revision sessions. It would be even more remarkable to organize Quran circles. To make this more feasible, we could consider conducting these activities virtually and think about introducing more Barts-specific committee roles.
Thank you for reading my proposal, I'm open to even more suggestions, and wish for my suggestions to be considered even if i don't recieve a role.
