Bridget Craghill

I believe welfare isn’t an afterthought. It should be the heart of the society.

I haven’t been the loudest or most active member of the Law Society.
But maybe that’s exactly why I understand what’s missing.
I say leadership starts with listening.

Too often, societies are built around the confident few who already feel like they belong. But real inclusion doesn’t echo from the middle out. It means reaching out and listening to the edges.

That’s why I believe welfare isn’t an afterthought.
It should be the heart of the society.

I’m not running to be the loudest voice.
I’m running to make sure yours is heard.

That’s the kind of culture I want to help build.
Not louder. Just kinder.

Vote Bridget Craghill for Welfare Officer.

My Welfare Plan

I want to make the Law Society a place where support is proactive, inclusion is intentional, and no one gets left behind.

Problem: Societies often revolve around the most confident or connected members.

My Solution:

Monthly informal coffee-style chats for new and quieter members so they feel more comfortable with networking and attending larger events.

Simplified event information, compiled and better-promoted access to all upcoming events not just through Instagram posts and stories.

The problem: Law students face burnout, perfectionism, and pressure.

My Solution:

Weekly welfare slots where people can chat anonymously or privately (online + in person).

The problem: Important opportunities don’t always reach every member equally.

Solution:

Monthly “What We’re Hearing”, anonymized questions, common concerns, and transparent answers.
Inclusion & Accessibility Audit! Collaborate with the committee to make events physically, socially, and emotionally more welcoming for all.
