I’m running to make our Students’ Union better for everyone. I want change that actually makes a difference. As your President, I'll deliver real improvements you can feel, while keeping the SU fully transparent.
Change will only come if you vote for it! #OmarForPresident

Queen Mary works best when us, the students, are at the forefront. Not just surveyed or emailed: genuinely represented. That's what I stand for, and it's exactly what I'll deliver.
My plan revolves around four principles: ambition, pragmatism, relentless, and transparency. It's clear, strong and the best way to build a Students' Union we can all be proud of.
Here's my plan for 2026/27:
Ambition
-
Make planning on-campus Society events easier
-
Correct and fix the poor Eduroam service across campus
-
Lobby for improvements to the QMUL mobile app
-
Look to improve student car parking availability on and off campus
-
Introduce a basic standard for feedback across all Schools
-
Keep prices at the Village Shop low and push for a freeze
-
Lobby for higher pay for student staff
Pragmatism
-
Refine the SU's 2030 Strategy and keep pushing towards it
-
Support and progress previous efforts on women-only spaces
-
Push to reduce waiting lists for the Advice and Counselling Service
-
Ensure there are adequate halal, kosher, vegan and gluten-free meal options across campus vendors
-
Address the issue of fire alarms going off at random times of night in some accommodations
Relentlessness
-
Use each trustee meeting as an opportunity for change
-
Ensure weekly, public follow-ups on each matter of policy
-
Push for more student forums and wider involvement in the Students' Union
-
Protect the right to freedom of expression across campus
-
Increase funding for Barts and the London clubs and societies
Transparency
-
Publish a monthly report on progress made towards fulfilling each of my promises
-
Review the existing bye-laws and introduce sweeping changes led by students
-
Consider revising the trustee system to 9 elected student trustees and 3 lay trustees
-
Continue to push for divestment from unethical organisations and causes
