DIGNITY. ACCESS. BELONGING.

University should be a place where every student feels safe, supported, and respected — not overwhelmed, ignored, or silenced unjustly.

Welfare is more than crisis response. It’s about whether support systems are clear, fair, and accessible to all.

If elected as VP Welfare, my vision is to focus on practical, achievable changes that improve student safety, wellbeing, and belonging across our campus.

  1. DIGNITY, SAFETY & ACCOUNTABILITY

Students deserve to know what happens when they ask for help.

My aims are to:

  • Push for clearer guidance within the Report & Support system so students understand what happens after submitting a report.

  • Advocate for transparent communication processes while protecting confidentiality.

  • Work with the university to strengthen anti-hate and anti-harassment initiatives and use these to increase awareness around global and local crises that affect students, whilst challenging harmful campus cultures.

  • Improve clarity and follow-up in hate crime and discrimination reporting procedures.

  • Reassess SU and university finances, accounts and investments to ensure ethical compliance.

No student should feel their concerns disappear into silence.

  1. ACCESSIBLE SUPPORT

Support only works if students can actually access it.

My hopes are to:

  • Push for greater transparency around hardship funds and financial support processes.

  • Work to improve awareness of food bank services and essential support schemes.

  • Advocate for better signposting to culturally competent and faith-aware mental health services.

  • Promote trauma-informed approaches for students affected by harassment, racism, sexism, Islamophobia, and other forms of discrimination.

  • Push for extra support for students/offer holders from regions of conflict

Financial stress, trauma, and discrimination all impact wellbeing. Our support systems must reflect that reality.

  1. BELONGING & FAIR TREATMENT

Students should not have to choose between their identity and their education.

My focuses are to:

  • Work to ensure accessible and inclusive spaces for faith, cultural, and identity-based communities.

  • Advocate for improvements in quiet and prayer spaces across campus.

  • Advocate for fair and consistent disciplinary processes.

  • Ensure students engaging in peaceful expression and activism feel supported and protected rather than unjustly targeted.

  • Promote dialogue and wellbeing initiatives for students impacted by global and local crises.

Belonging strengthens our university. Division weakens it.

My Vision…

Is to approach this role with integrity, transparency, justice, and a focus on realistic outcomes — working collaboratively while holding institutions accountable.

Welfare should be proactive, not reactive.

Let’s build a campus where dignity, access, and belonging are not slogans — but standards.

Vote for Dignity. Vote for Access. Vote for Belonging.

Vote for Hadi, and, by the permission of God, secure the future of your campus' welfare!
