I am standing for Vice President Liberation, International and Postgraduates to ensure our Union reflects the diversity, ambition, and lived realities of every student. I will strengthen representation, advance equity, and secure accountable governance that delivers tangible outcomes for international and postgraduate communities across our institution.

My Record of Representation

Since being elected Activities & Experience Representative in October, I have actively represented student interests across institutional spaces and student engagement platforms.

During this time I have:

  • Represented students in formal governance meetings and discussions

  • Engaged with societies and student groups to understand barriers to participation

  • Raised concerns regarding cost of living pressures affecting students

  • Advocated for inclusive student spaces and accessible activities

  • Worked to ensure student voices reach the appropriate decision-making channels

This experience has provided me with a strong understanding of how the Students’ Union and university structures operate, and how effective representation can bring meaningful improvements.


Liberation Students

Every student deserves a campus environment where they feel respected, safe and included.

I will work to strengthen liberation support through:

Inclusive & Safe Spaces

  • Expanding women-only and safe spaces

  • Supporting alcohol-free events to ensure inclusive participation

  • Strengthening systems for reporting discrimination and harassment

  • Increasing training on unconscious bias, racism and Islamophobia

Faith & Cultural Inclusion

  • Expanding and improving multi-faith centre facilities

  • Advocating for hand-held bidets in campus toilets to support religious needs

  • Ensuring faith and cultural communities are properly represented

Equality & Opportunity

  • Expanding scholarships and financial support for women and underrepresented students

  • Ensuring liberation groups have stronger representation within university decision-making


International Students

International students contribute enormously to the university community and must receive stronger institutional support.

Financial Support

  • Advocate for expanded scholarships for international students

  • Establish support funds for students from conflict-affected regions such as Palestine and Ukraine

  • Lobby against excessive annual tuition fee increases

Cost of Living Support

  • Challenge unnecessary increases in campus service costs

  • Introduce free or subsidised printing services

  • Ensure meals and essential services remain affordable despite inflation

Housing & Accommodation

  • Strengthen partnerships with third-party accommodation providers

  • Support students facing housing disputes or unfair contracts

Career & Employment Support

  • Work with the Careers and Enterprise teams to increase:

    • Graduate scheme opportunities

    • Career workshops and employability programmes

    • Entrepreneurship and business development support


Postgraduate Students

Postgraduate students have distinct academic, financial and research needs that require stronger representation.

Academic Support

  • Improve the efficiency and Increase the number of (EC) extenuating circumstances processes

  • Expand academic writing and research skills workshops

  • Develop linient policies regarding AI use in academic work

Researcher Support

  • Lobby for increased stipends for Postgraduate Researchers (PGRs)

  • Ensure postgraduate students have stronger representation in academic policy discussions

Campus Infrastructure

  • Expand 24/7 access to libraries and computer labs

  • Increase charging points and study facilities across campus

  • Support 24/7 social spaces such as QM Social and The Hive

Academic Flexibility

  • Encourage alternatives to early 9am lectures, particularly for commuting students


Ethical, Sustainable & Responsible University

Students expect institutions to operate responsibly.

I will advocate for:

  • Ethical investment policies

  • No institutional partnerships with organisations linked to human rights violations, apartheid, or genocide

  • Stronger environmentally sustainable policies across campus

  • Greater transparency in university financial and business partnerships


Mental Health & Student Wellbeing

Student wellbeing must be a central institutional priority.

I will work to:

  • Expand mental health services and counselling access

  • Improve awareness and visibility of wellbeing support

  • Ensure student wellbeing concerns are consistently raised in decision-making forums


Strengthening the Student Community

I will also work to:

  • Expand career development and employability workshops

  • Strengthen collaboration between students and the Careers Service

  • Increase alumni access to university facilities and networks

  • Ensure student feedback directly informs institutional decisions


My Commitment

Student representation must be active, accountable and transparent.

If elected, I will:

  • Maintain open communication with students

  • Provide regular updates on progress

  • Ensure student voices influence real institutional decisions
