About this event

Consider yourself an expert quizzer with a broad range of knowledge?

You could be in with the chance to represent Queen Mary on TV Quiz Show University Challenge.

All Queen Mary students are welcome to take part in the two-stage selection process for the Queen Mary, University of London team which will apply to take part in the 2021 series of University Challenge.

Please sign-up using this form.

For a taster of what it's like to appear on University Challenge, watch this quick taster video featuring Ab and Cathy from Queen Mary's 2020/21 University Challenge team. You can also read about the experience of last year's team here.

The first stage will be taking place online as is a written test comprising 50 general knowledge questions on Wednesday 3 November 2021. The test will be available to start any time over the 8 hour window (12pm-8pm), but should take no more than half an hour to complete once started.

We are aiming to receive interest and represent as broad a cross-section of students at Queen Mary as possible in terms of subject area studied, race, gender identity, sexuality, disability or faith. Please get in touch if you have suggestions for how we can make the trials more accessible to all.

The highest scorers in this written test will be invited to the second stage in the process, which will be an in-person test of speed on the buzzer in answering University Challenge starter questions. This will take place on the evening of Wednesday 10th November, exact time TBC based on attendee availability.

If you can’t make the trial dates we'll do our best to make alternative arrangements where possible, or if you would like more information, please contact Tom Stockton (t.stockton@qmul.ac.uk).
