About this event

This interactive, hands-on workshop will provide a practical introduction to the assessment and management of common hand fractures. Designed for medical students and junior clinicians with an interest in orthopaedics, the session will cover key principles of fracture assessment, decision-making between conservative and operative management, and safe immobilisation techniques.

Participants will gain hands-on experience using realistic hand and bone simulators to practise fracture reduction, splinting, and basic fixation techniques such as K-wire insertion, under expert supervision. The session will emphasise anatomy, fracture patterns, common pitfalls, and exam-relevant clinical reasoning, while also highlighting real-world surgical principles.

No prior orthopaedic experience is required. By the end of the session, attendees should feel more confident in recognising hand fractures, understanding management options, and appreciating how these injuries are treated in clinical practice.
