About this event

BOOK HERE

Through stunning cinematography and compelling storytelling, 'Oceans' reveals the beauty, fragility, and resilience of marine ecosystems — alongside the urgent challenges they face.

The screening will be followed by an interdisciplinary panel discussion bringing together experts from across fields to explore questions of international ocean governance, protection, responsibility and exploration of the history of the oceans. Together, the film and discussion will offer space to reflect on the role oceans play in climate systems, global politics, and environmental justice, and why their protection requires collective, international action.

Speakers:

  • Dr Joanne Yao – Reader in international relations

  • Dr Simon Layton – Senior Lecturer in Global History

  • Oceanographer from Geography TBC
