About this event

The Pirates of Penzance

'H.M.S. Pinafore' (1879) is a two-act comic operetta by Gilbert and Sullivan that follows Frederic, a young man mistakenly apprenticed to a tender‑hearted band of pirates. Having reached the end of his term of service (on his twenty-first birthday), he vows to devote himself to their destruction, but his fierce sense of duty, his newfound love for Mabel, and an awkward legal complication combine to delay his happy ending in increasingly ridiculous ways.

Our Society:

The Savoy Opera Society is a society based around appreciating and performing Savoy comedy operettas written and composed by the Victorian duo, ‘Gilbert and Sullivan’. Our goal is to bring together fans of their operettas, opera or musical theatre in general, or simply people who want to improve their singing/musical skills in a fun way!
