Please join us for this open discussion on ‘Disability in History', organised by the History Society and the School of History, Queen Mary University of London.

On the occasion of UK Disability History Month (16 Nov - 16 Dec), this discussion will consider how historians can and should think about disability in classrooms, libraries and archives. We approach this in two ways: first, asking how a consideration of disability can inform our understanding of the past and the narratives we deploy to communicate that history; and second, considering how disability shapes the life and work experiences of historians, both students and staff.

All are welcome to join the discussion, or just listen in. Participants are invited to bring and share resources that they find useful for thinking about disability in/and history. They are also welcome to share any reflections on their own experience at QMUL. The discussion will inform ongoing conversations in the School around inclusive curricula and approaches to accessibility.

This event is part of a new School of History initiative that brings students and staff together to discuss important questions related to public history and historical commemoration.
