About this event

Come and join us for us for an afternoon of three great talks on medicinal cannabis! The first talk will be from Hannah Deacon, mother of Alfie Dingley, the first patient to receive a medical cannabis license in the UK. Alfie has a rare and devastating form of epilepsy, which so far can only be managed by cannabis-derived products. Hannah and Alfie's high-profile case has been monumental in instigating change in policy, but there is still much to be done to make sure that patient's like Alfie get the help that they need.

The second speaker will be Dr. Chloe Sakal, a psychiatrist and clinical lead of Twenty21, a revolutionaty project by Drug Science which will measure medicinal cannabis use in 20,000 patients. Dr. Sakal will be talking about Project Twenty21, how cannabis is used in a variety of different conditions and the difficulties which may arise in cannabis prescribing. The last speaker will be Professor David Nutt, who will be talking about the history of medicinal cannabis, UK policy and how cannabis exerts its effects. If you have any interest in learning more about medicinal cannabis and its future in UK healthcare, then come along! As an added incentive, we will also be providing refreshments half way through the afternoon.
