One of the university's newest clubs brings you one of the world's oldest sports. We're proud to be the only student club in East London to offer golf the way it should be: affordable, accessible, and above all, fun.
About BL Golf
We don’t subscribe to the archaic reputation that golf endures. This is not a game for the elite, the old, and the insufferably dull. Golf is a game for everybody, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more sociable sport. This is something that we, as a club, are passionate about, and that is reflected in the varied and enjoyable club life on offer.
The club has 2 main aims:
- To encourage participation in golf by reducing costs, improving access to equipment and tuition, and cultivating a fun environment to play in
- To support experienced golfers to play at the highest level, and facilitate attainment in BUCS Tournaments and club-led events
We are immensely proud that our membership includes single figure handicappers and novices alike. We make this work by making sure each event we run is fun for everyone, whilst also providing a platform to improve, if you so wish!
The social calendar the club offers is a particular jewell in our crown. Not only do we offer the obligatory Wednesday night Tables scene, but also take regular trips to the many golf-themed nights out that London has to offer, organise mixed socials with other clubs, and run larger socials, such as pub golf (done by the experts). As with all aspects of the club, we try to make our socials as inclusive to everyone as possible!
Joining BL Golf
We have two membership categories:
1) Social membership £45 - aimed at beginners or those that would to improve their skills but not participate in BUCS and other competitions.
2) Competitive membership £60 - aimed at competitive golfers wanting to represent us in BUCS
Some of the benefits of joining us include:
- Weekly training sessions at Tee box London (trackman simulator)
- Access to tuition from our experienced senior members, and support in accessing equipment
- Access to our Club Shop, for the most important aspect of the sport - personalised golf stash.
- Discounted membership at our partner course Royal Blackheath golf club
- The oppertunity to represent us in BUCS, we are competing in BUCS Southeastern 2A for the 22/23 academic year (competitive membership required)
The best way to get in touch with us is to find us at Freshers Fair (21st September), where we’ll be more than happy to answer any questions you have. Make sure to join our Facebook group, BL Golf Club Swingers, to stay in the loop with all the goings on of the club. We’ll also be running the traditional Freshers Curry and a Taster Session at the famous Greenwich Driving Range, so be sure to come along and meet everyone at the club!
