Welcome to Care Without Borders
Care Without Borders is a student-led volunteering community for anyone who wants to make a difference, meet new people and get involved in something meaningful outside university.
Our main focus is animal welfare, working with charities and organisations to create hands-on volunteering opportunities, awareness campaigns, educational events and community projects. We also explore the connection between animal and human welfare and how we can support the wider community through volunteering.
Never volunteered before? That’s completely fine.
We know that wanting to volunteer and actually knowing where to start are two very different things. London has so many opportunities, but finding them, applying alone or turning up somewhere for the first time can feel intimidating, especially if you're new to London or an international student.
That's one of the reasons we created Care Without Borders. We want to make volunteering feel accessible, social and welcoming. Instead of figuring everything out alone, you can discover opportunities through the society, go with other QMUL students and meet people who care about similar things.
What can you get involved in?
Throughout the year, we're working towards:
- Hands-on volunteering opportunities with animal welfare organisations and charities
- Group volunteering sessions and visits
- Animal welfare and adoption awareness campaigns
- Guest talks and educational events
- Outreach projects with local secondary schools
- Fundraising and donation initiatives
- Community-focused volunteering projects
- Social events where members can actually get to know each other
We're also building long-term partnerships with charities and welfare organisations, so our members can access meaningful opportunities throughout the year rather than only one-off events.
Why join?
There isn't one “right” reason to volunteer.
Maybe you genuinely love animals. Maybe you want to contribute to your community. Maybe you want practical experience and skills outside your degree. Maybe you're new to London and want to meet people. Or maybe you've always wanted to volunteer but never knew where to begin.
You don't need previous volunteering experience, and you don't need to study a particular subject. Everyone is welcome.
Care Without Borders is about bringing people together, making it easier to take that first step and hopefully turning it into something you genuinely enjoy being part of.
