Training
Regular training session with our high level coach focusing on technique, fitness and match scenario’s as well as competitive cricket at the top divisions of university cricket allow us to maintain our high standards. Training takes place up to two times per week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, throughout the first two terms at Leighton Cricket Hub, a multi-million pound training facility which we proudly share with Essix county performance cricket. Newly built this year, the cricket hub gives us the best opportunity to prepare for the upcoming season.
Monday Training - Training on Monday's takes places at 6pm, and is usually tecnique bases and consists of practicing and perfecting drills. Alternatively we also work on our fielding and fitness during these sessions.
Wednesday Training - Training on Wednesday's take place between 3-5pm. We usually begin with a quick warm-up followed by re-visiting the drills which were worked on during the Monday's session. We then have 3 scenario based nets working on a specific attribute of the game. We have 1 bowling machine lane which is usually manned by our coach.
Women's Cricket
Barts and the London Cricket Club, historically has been a men’s sport, with no women having paid membership in its exuberant history. Last year we want to change this and be more inclusive of everyone studying at Barts by transitioning to mixed sport. Through regular training session and friedly matches we look to grow our Womens XI over the next year to hopefully be compteting agasint other competative sides!
Keep an eye out for a separate Taster Session during the first term!
Socials
The Cricket Club offers more than just a chance to train weekly across some of the best facilities by having a very active social calendar. With weekly socials at tables, regular black tie events and our annual mystery tour, we has a wide range of activities which are open to all. Some our most active social members had never even played cricket before coming to university!
