Queen Mary Badminton Club (QMBC) play and train throughout the academic year.

*UPDATE SUMMER 2020* - QMBC will be continuing to run throughout the 2020-21 academic year in full accordance with government and Badminton England guidelines. The format of our sessions may differ from usual in the first semester - latest updates can be found on our Instagram and Facebook pages (linked below).

We currently have two Men’s teams, one Women’s team and one Mixed team competing nationally in BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) and LUSL (London Universities Sport League). Team members train up to twice a week with a world-class coach - come and join us if you’re interested!

We also have social badminton sessions allocated each week catered to players who have never picked up a racket before as well as those who play casually and regularly. We provide shuttles and have a few rackets we can lend you, however, it's best to bring your own if you have one as they are always high in demand. Being part of the social team, you’ll be a part of the larger badminton family and will be invited to join all social events throughout the year alongside the team players!

Burn calories, meet new people, beat your friends... but most importantly have fun!!!

Join our Instagram and Facebook pages for information and updates.

Men’s and Women’s trials - Trials will be held at the beginning of in October and January (dates TBC) at Redbridge Sports Centre.

What do you need to bring?
Racket and sports kit.

Selection process
You will be assessed by our team captains and club President. We will assess your range of skills and team working abilities, not just your ability to win.

What are the next steps if you are selected?
You will be invited to attend our team training sessions, where you will be further assessed by our coach.

What happens if you are not selected?
We have a second round of trials in January. In the meantime, you can join our social squads for extra practice. The team list will change throughout the year as not every team member can attend every match. Commitment is key, so don't give up!

Queen Mary Badminton compete in BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) and LUSL (London Universities Sport League).

BUCS League matches are to be played mostly on Wednesday afternoons at Redbridge Sports Centre, Mixed (LUSL) League matches are to be played on the weekend.

Competitions will be starting in January and we will release more information about these closer to the time!
